Skateboarding Lesson
March 4, 2008 by claguna
Shawn taught Mrs. Cravener and me about skateboarding on Friday. There were so many terms I had never heard of including the deck, the grip tape, and the varial! Maybe the teachers should take vocabulary lessons from the students once in while. We could really learn a lot! Here is a link to learn more about skateboarding. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_skateboarding_terms and http://www.exploratorium.edu/skateboarding/largeglossary.html Thanks also to Tyler for helping me learn how to use the simulation website called Energy Skate Park. Tyler noticed that if you click on the bar graph option you can see how the mechanical energy in a system remains constant even as the potential and kinetic energy are converted from one form to another. The link is http://phet.colorado.edu/new/simulations/sims.php?sim=Energy_Skate_Park. You can read Tyler’s comments on our wiki http://team8blue.wikispaces.com/Simulations.

you can also make your charactor less sticky and control its mass and other charactoristics that determine where they go.
In the energy skatepark you can fly by pressing the arrow keys which will strap a rocket to your skater and make him fly.
there are many kinds of variels there is for example a variel kickflips, or a body variel. so you should play Skate or tony hawk games!!!!!!!!!!!
