Students are often the best teachers! I have learned so much from my students this year and I thought I’d better start taking notes! Thanks for all your lessons, Team 8 Blue!

p.s. Am I going to be tested on this?

Hi Mrs Laguna,
I am also a middle years maths and science teacher – I think I found you through classroom 2.0 or fireside conversations? I really like the way you are asking your students to think and comment about their work.
I wondered if you might be interested in a maths project with my year 7 students? I am doing an action research project about maths, science and social networking. My students are having real difficulties with fractions, ratio, decimals and percentages (as they usually do at this level). I thought a kids-teaching-kids approach may be helpful.
If I posted the problem with an incorrect answer, would your students be able to explain how they would go about solving it? If you are interested we could use ’scbd’, ‘tokbox” or maybe ‘Teachertube’ to record and post the responses on a wiki?
Perhaps you may know of other maths teachers who may be interested?
Best regards, Britt Gow
Hi Britt,
I think it is a great idea to get the kids talking about solutions. Let’s plan something! Maybe voice thread would be a fun way to go.
